This model represents the 1955-1970 version that had been refitted for use in caboose pool service in the 1960s by adding electric generation and batteries. Also toilets and a retention tank were added. A red version was sold, and a yellow Chessie B&O and C&O, from 1970, were sold.

This is Bill Lane's model of the Chessie version of the I-12. It was painted by the late Charlie Carangie. Bill added the rock guards details. The model suffers from a few issues, one of which is that the truck journals hit the steps, limiting the track radius that this car can handle.

This is how the model arrived in the box, except that Bill had already moved the steps out a bit to resolve the truck-clearance issue.
