The model shown is one of the ICG models that Holt Apgar stripped and repainted for the NH. Holt adds that the SHS ICG SW9, with its orange cab, is a good repaint subject for the NH SW1200. Externally the two engines are identical. He hand-painted two coats of Model Master black enamel, with orange and white trim. Lettering and numbers came from Microscale decals and various dry transfers. Prototype photos confirm the scheme and numbers. The New Haven RR SW1200 yard switchers, #s 640 - 659, were the first EMD diesels ordered by the NH after years of Alco orders. They arrived in 1956, in the new black and orange McGinnis scheme, and served for 20+ years into the Conrail era.

After installing the Soundtraxx Tsunami2 2200, Chuck Kemper is testing his model on his layout.

Another run of this engine on Chuck's layout.
