A.C. Gilbert U.S. Air Force General Service Flat Cars

This is the Rocket Sled Transport pre-production flat car. It has a gray painted body without any markings and the Rocket Sled has a yellow painted body. It also has sintered-iron trucks and knuckle couplers. The common version has a black plastic body with markings in white that read "U.S.A.F. 25515" that was made in 1960 and 1961 with sintered-iron truck and knuckle couplers, and from 1962 through 1964 with PikeMaster trucks and couplers. Both are shown together in the second photo.

This car was produced in 1960 and 1961 in two variations. The first variation produced in 1960, as shown in the photo, has sintered-iron trucks and knuckle couplers. The second variation produced in 1961 has Pike-Master trucks and couplers. The load is two rocket fuel containers.
