The animated car was produced through 1951 in six variations.

Four of the variations were produced in 1946. These all have frames that were painted black and have an electrical pickup embedded in the truck. One variation has "716" in the left full panel and "American Flyer Lines" in the right full panel. Another variation has "American Flyer Lines" on both the left and right full panels. Another variation has nothing in the left full panel and "American Flyer Lines" on the right panel. The fourth variation has no brake wheel.

The version produced from 1947 through 1950 has a third-wheel pickup and frames that were painted black.

The 1951 version has a frame that was painted gray and used black link coupler weights.
