Dick Karnes' model uses American Models sprung Bettendorf trucks and Kadee S-scale couplers. At the time of photography, the model was missing the stirrup steps.

Brian Nicholson shows the kit still under construction, where he replaced the stock roofwalk and brake wheel with an etched-metal one of his own design and making. He also built the roof latch locking system using prototype photos as a go-by. The unpainted model clearly shows the added details.
