For the very first run of these cars, S-Helper Service sold some of them fully painted and decorated, but without a specific road number. The box contains decal sheets so that the modeler could apply the number of their choice. The decals were produced for them by MicroScale. The box for this Wabash model does have a label showing the road number as 30321, even though the model did not have a road number from the factory. The initial run of just 500 cars sold very quickly, so they immediately produced another run, for which they had the factory apply the road number. The no-road-number approach, according to Don Thompson, was not a hit with the modelers, so this was the one and only time they did this.
