According to Jeff Wilson, owner of Hoquat Hobbies, American Models commissioned Gloor Craft to create these wooden kits for them. American Models later on sold all of their remaining stock to Hoquat Hobbies. The kit came with pre-painted and lettered sides, and cast hinges, door latches, and ice hatches as add-on soft metal parts.
