Notes:

This is a very rare (210)88 "One Of The First 50" locomotive that was used in 1959 by Gilbert as part of their 50 Anniversary celebration. This locomotive was part of 50 Special sets that were given to their largest customers that were package in a special set box. The cars in this set are also different than most production cars as they are painted and there is a difference in the lettering on the cars.

Notes:

Factory Presentation Model. This unit was created in 1959 to be a 50th Anniversary special gift item for some customers/suppliers. The (210)88 locomotive was the focal point of the 50th Anniversary celebration and was used on many promotions in 1959. According to Maury Romer 225 of these Presentation Models were made. 25 utilized locomotives that were complete with motor and smoke assemblies. The remaining 200, like the one in the photo, lacked the motor and smoke assembly.
