The kit is all wood, but comes with soft-metal and stamped-brass detailing parts. It came with three sets of pre-painted and lettered road name and data boards, namely for the PRR, MKT, and Southern. The model is based on AAR standards and could be built as a single-deck or double-deck version. The original kit came with Northeastern Bettendorf trucks.
