Joe Coen shared this photo about a cut of cars waiting for their transfer run out of Arlen Yard. Joe's "Texas Southern Switching District" is based on a small town in the Texas Gulf coast set in the late 1970s or early 1980s. Joe is not afraid to make this cars and engines look very well used, as they would be in the real world. He captures the feeling very well.
The reason for the delay is that the assigned American Models GP9 is currently in the shop undergoing a conversion to battery power. The well-used GP9 was a recent purchase for the Texas Southern (Joe's private railroad) and has received a quick patch paint job. Once the conversion is complete, it will be immediately put to work at moving those cars.
